Joël Ratsimandresy

TEMSE, Belgium - French player Joël Ratsimandresy has won the Open Belgian Championship (MCR). It was a close race with Francesco Martini from Italy. Both finished with 20 table points, but the Frenchman had gathered 45 mini-points more than his adversary.

Cédric Aguerre from France, with the highest number of mini-points of the whole tournament, but with just one table point less, finished in third position. This was the same position he occupied last year.

It is a most remarkable victory of Mr. Ratsimandresy, who also in 2016 won this event, which always attracts many of the strongest players from all over the Continent.

This year, no less than 96 players participated. They played six sessions: three on Saturday, three on Sunday. Most of the competitors came from Belgiums neighbor-countries France (26), Holland (25) and Germany (17). Marieke Verheyden was the best Belgian player. She finished in 11th position.
