Top-3 at Oss, from left Martijn Gulmans, Ans Hoogland, Cor Hoogland.

OSS, the Netherlands - Ans Hoogland today has won the Fuyu Taikai riichi tournament of Oss. Runner-up was Martijn Gulmans, third prize for Ans’s husband Cor.

The forty competitors (39 from the Netherlands and one from Germany) played four hanchan.

Quite remarkable was that no-one of the players failed to show up, in spite of the snow which made the roads in the country rather unsafe to drive. But then again, the venue at Oss has a reputation of a good atmosphere and an outstanding lunch.
