VERDEN, Germany - Anne Schäfer takes the Open with 14 table points, followed in second by Silke Bansemer with 12, and Jürgen Schnier with 11.
Twenty players participated on the the German Mahjong Open Verden2017. The tournament was planned to play four 90 minute rounds, but because of the delay of three players who tried to travel with "Deutsche Bahn" (huge technical problems stopped until late afternoon the trains), they had to decide to wait for them or to start without them. All players agreed to wait an additional 30 minutes (they rented a car in between). And so they played an additional unplanned and unofficial round to pass the time.
Beside playing Mahjong, there was enough time to enjoy the really nice and sunny day with friends and a coffee outside.
In the end Anne won the tournament, runner up were Silke and Jürgen. All of them got our well-known DMJL-cups and Easter-related prizes (flowers and chocolate).
Totally unexpected: Stefanie ended at the last place; therefore she got a nice present: sunflowers!
Best Dutch player was Olav Sommers; as he was the only one ;-)
